Encouragement
Watching the news the other night, with my husband, we were provoked to inquire God’s Word regarding Gaza, the land in Israel in which thousands are being evicted from. What is most interesting, but not surprising, is that this happening had been prophesied in Zephaniah, and many of the Old Testament prophetic books.
What at the time may seem like an atrocity between Jew and Jew is a safety net God is putting in place to save His beloved Israel. The most profound and confounding things happen in the land of God’s chosen ones. I have always been intrigued to keep my eye on Israel, the eye of the world as some say. Obviously it is because I am a born Jew. I come from a long line of Russian Jews from the area of Kiev, Russia. As a completed Jew I find the Word of God to be an exciting drama that is continuously unfolding before our very eyes.
As I watch the great eviction of Gaza, I wonder how the residents, in whom the media so carefully call settlers, (a more transient name given to desensitize the world), being Jews and supposedly learned masters of the Torah could possibly have missed this great happening.
"For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up." (Zephania 2:4)."
"But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof: (Amos 1:7)."
We read on in the book of Ezekiel of Gods’ plan to bring his people out and into the mountains. It is here that we realize that Gaza is not in the mountain region, meaning this prophecy must be fulfilled to prepare God’s people for Christ imminent return.
"I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and bring them to their own land; and I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, by the streams, and in all the inhabited places of the land (Ezekiel 34:13)."
Personally, how does all this relate to you and me in the United States? It tells me that God is still in the business of protecting His chosen ones. He is getting them out of the land before it is desecrated and the great fire envelopes the wall of the city. All trials and turmoil in a believer’s life seem unbearable at times, but in the end we can look back and thank Him for His sovereignty and care for us.
I have pleaded with my readers before and will again to pray for Israel! When God hears our prayers for Israel it is as a sweet aroma before Him for He loves them dearly. It was there He walked as He was clothed in humanity. It is there he gave His very life upon a rugged tree for all of Israel to see. Yes, God is passionate in His love for His people – those of Israel and those who have been grafted into the vine world- wide as is spoken of in Romans 11:19. Finally, Israel is the place in which God will come back to redeem His bride the church, His chosen one, you and me in whom He calls His beloved saints!
