“May I wish you Love, Peace & Joy”
Friday, May 6, 2005 †
“Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me. And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and reveal myself to him." (John 14:21).
God wants us to be happy. That is why He gave us the commandment to love. The Lord’s “Law of Love” is not to only be applied to family, friends, and significant others, but it is to be given to everyone – good and bad alike. God knows what it takes to love, not just in this world but in the next world as well. God wanted us to love one another so much, that He felt He needed to send His only Son Jesus to Earth in order to teach us by words, by examples and then by the ultimate sacrifice.
God wanted us to love so we may enjoy complete happiness. You can’t be completely happy without love in your life, whether it is love for a friend, a family member, a neighbor etc. The words “love” and “happiness” go very well together. Because when we love, we feel joy; and when we feel joy we feel peace. Love, peace, and joy, the best things you can wish upon someone. Peace was the farewell gift that Jesus gave us. Not the peace of that this world gives, but the peace that is in the Sacred Heart. “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you” (John 14:27).
Christ wanted us to love people. He wanted us to love Him. But Christ did not want us to love according to our society’s definition of love. For “love” in our world today is so over used that it is no longer guaranteed to be followed by joy. God wanted us to love Him but to be meek and humble in His presence.
So follow the logic:
To know love is to know humility.
To know humility is to know happiness.
To know happiness is know gratitude.
For only the grateful are happy,
and only the humble are grateful.
So, only the humble are happy.
This is how God wanted us to love. This is how Jesus showed us to love.
And You, do you know love?
