The Polishing Cloth

I was thinking this morning of the sterling silver I use to make little earrings and things, and how if left out in the air too long, they tarnish and lose their shine.

Then you have to take a polishing cloth and gently rub the tarnish off, and when you are done, the brilliance of the shine is even more wonderful than it was before.

It made me think of my life before I met you - I was like a neglected bit of silver just sitting there, exposed to all the wrong things I had done, and weighed down by life's discouragement and cares.

The more that I tried, the more I failed, my life had no shine at all, and I wondered if this was all that there was, if I was destined never to walk, but always crawl.

Then into my life one amazing day, there was Jesus, who'd been there all along, but I had always turned my back, thinking that was one place I wouldn't belong, But when I finally said 'yes' and allowed Him into my heart, what a change He wrought in me, the light of His love was the polishing cloth, and He showed me how shiny I could be.

Each day I would read in His word, and try to follow His path straight and true, and in His timing He gave me the desire of my heart, for that's when He brought me you.

Now we're joined together, and the silver just glows for love is what keeps it clean and bright, and in everything we do brings out the love even more, till it sparkles and reflects His light.

I thank God every day for renewing my life, for making my dreams come true, and I know that every moment of my life I will try to tell you how much I love you!
