Forgive me Lord, for trying to rely on myself to come to who I want to be,
For relying on myself to turn from sin,
And to stop making mistakes,
I’ve put my trust in the wrong source, and I’ve only been disappointed.

Forgive me Lord for not turning to Your Word,
For not letting You hear a prayer,
For not concerning You with my troubles,
I have ignored You in my battles and have only tasted defeat.

I’ve strayed from You,
I’ve strayed from the boundaries of myself,
Because I have not trusted in You.

The longer I stay disconnected, my struggles intensify,
I can’t focus on the person You’re leading me to be.

I’m trying to climb a mountain without arms,
Trying to speak without a tongue,
I’ve tried times over,
To remain a godly person,
And to stay within Your boundaries.

But each day I fall harder,
I can’t hang on,
I’m forgetting Your ways,
Who am I?

Lord, I want to be like You,
I want to remain in Your light,
When others see me, can they see that I love You?

Lord, be my tongue and my arms,
Hear a desperate prayer,
Council me, guide me,
To who I want to be,
Take me back into Your shelter,
I don’t want to ignore You.
