Graduating High School, entering College,
when statistics said you’d make an F.

Go head respectable black man,
Mr. or Sir is how you’re addressed.
Not prisoner number # 95723
on cell block number # 1S

You go black man, go head,
learning to make the honest dollar.
Not standing on the corner selling drugs
being officer’s friendly’s next collar.

You go black man, you’re a star,
and your people are proud of you.
Stay black, keep the faith
and continue to “do what you do”.
