Can I run away from the earth or the sky?
Hide my face from each second of time passing by?

Shall I empty my lungs and refuse to breathe air?
Deny gentle winds as they dance through my hair?

Ignore both my hunger and thirst from inside?
Find refuge beyond my own body to hide?


Don’t acknowledge the moon and the stars, or the sun?
Forfeit the daybreak before it’s begun?

Not notice the people around me each day?
Close my eyes upon loved ones and wish them away?

How can I run from the twilight now falling?
Or hide from your still and small voice, always calling?

To lose everything that this human life brings
Is to run from a God who exists in all things.
