I am of flesh and bone,
Fell victim to constantly fighting the feeling of being alone,
Tears stream down my face because I feel I let you down my Lord,
I was suppose to rely on you to be my shield and sword,
But instead I got cocky and I thought I knew it all,
It was a matter of time before my downfall,
And the demons riped at me without a second of pause,
Somewhere within the torture I lost my cause,
I returned to the bottle and the drugs,
Refused good people who just wanted to give me a hug,
My every breath became heavy and stale,
I looked into the mirror and saw a reflection that was becoming ugly and pale,
Every morning I no longer hopped out of bed,
Instead I was wishing thirstfully to be dead,
Was this my punishment for rushing into a battle to quick,
As I learned the hard way move to quick you're bound to slip,
And as I write this testament tears begin to build,
Only you My Savior can have this empty void filled,
Once again I've returned to the broken and lost,
A life without you is to much of a cost,
I am sorry for the way I have carried myself,
Abusing my health which in essence is the one real wealth,
I should have looked at the footprints left behind,
And I should have realized they were not mine,
Now I move at a much slower pace,
Getting to know you is not a race,
And please forgive me for being proudful and arrogant,
Now I see the reason why I should take more time to repent,

This an excellent, flowing and heartfelt poem. I enjoyed reading it. My only comment is that i'm not quite certain that it falls under the category "Apologetics."

A very touching article. We all need to watch out for pride for it can be a our downfall as well. (Ps. 34:18-The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. May God bless you real big, Sharon
