         News of The Day, or News of Heavenly Power

 So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of menbut in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:5 ESV

What really gets you going each morning? Is it that first cup of coffee or tea, maybe breaking news of the day,? Or things going on in your  mind? Could it be the daily workout before your morning shower? I’m reminded, ‘Where my treasure is, there will my heart be also.’ Mathew 6:21 There are many worldly intrusions that might keep us from discerning the really important. All what the mind of our reasoning thinks is often just ‘urgent stuff’, that really can wait. The truly essential choices we begin our day with, is why our Lord is searching our heart.

I realize that since I belong to Jesus, I am  His personal property. His grace and mercy lead me, recognizing the voice of His Spirit and presence. This becomes the energy of my own heart. Since God’s ways are so much higher and greater than my ways,  (Isaiah 55:8-9) choosing to listen to God’s Spiritual voice and word are the source of what gets ‘my workout’ started to direct my day.

I must confess, the things I actually accomplish often are less than my organizational thoughts want to do. And there are times when I accomplish more than what I think to get done. The point is; when our lord chooses our day, and we start the habit of doing what His Holy Spirit leads us to do…God gets the honor, not my self-serving intuition. The result is finding His rest and gratitude with calm to my own soul. Remember God’s promise in Isaiah?

Thou dost keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusts in thee. Isaiah 26:3 RSV

Father, thank you for giving to me your faithful promise from above, far greater than the wisdom of men. Amen
