                           I’m Alive After Death!

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Colossians 3:2-3 ESV 

There are many biblical passages giving evidence from the power of God  putting breath back into individuals who took their last breath and departed. Elijah raised the widows son from 1 Kings 17.  Then too, we  know what occurred when Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear but only believe.” Mark 5:36 He brought back life into his daughter’s body. Also what we recognize so well when Jesus raised Lazurus four days after he passed and was buried, from John chapter eleven. 

So too, does Jesus make each of His followers alive from death of the ‘old self,’ of the flesh, to bring new birth of God’s Holy Spirit into our soul. Jesus alone, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, to do what no other can.

When Jesus informed Nicodemus about needing ‘new birth,’ it was a bit too much for Nicodemus to comprehend. If we’re intellectually honest with ourselves, there are challenges in each one of us when fear over faith wants to grip our confidence to believe. For me, ‘New Birth,’ is our continuation of sanctification resulting from the imperishable seed through the living and abiding word of God in our heart. 1 Peter 1:23 ‘because the word of the Lord lives forever.’ 1 Peter 1:25.

 The proposal and solution is what Paul said to the Church at Corinth. ‘So that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.’ 1 Corinthians 2:5 This is evidence for each follower of our Lord. We are alive from the death of our old self of fleshly living and reasoning, now to embrace God’s promise of ‘putting on the new self.’

Father, thank you for my ‘new life’ hidden with You in Jesus, Amen
