Meet Southern Mary, Your Future Nurse Model For The MAHA Rollout, October 2

In a historic attempt to rescue Medicare, and to delay decreasing Medicare benefits to a certain class of patients, HHS and the Department of Medicare and Medicaid have dramatically changed the way certain brand new Primary Care Physicians treat patients in new practices in new rural areas of the nation.

The goal is to have these new PCPs treat 1.5 times the national number of patients currently being served, and also to be highly skilled in recognising Stage 3, 4, and 5 serious diseases while they are still in Stage 1 & 2.

In order for the PCPs to do this, several traditional burdens have to be removed from them and delegated to others.  One of the most important transfers of responsibilities will become the partial responsibility of Nurses.

Nurses have always been the most trusted of the doctor/nurse traditional teams; however, the  MAHA nurse will have to assume one-third of the doctor’s symptom-gathering, format the data they have collected for inclusion into the diagnostic software, and have that portion of symptom information ready for the doctor.

Although the doctor will be relieved of any paperwork, and insurance delays will be streamlined, it will be the nurse who will be the crucial link for MAHA to work. 

Toward that end, it was my pleasure to be in the care of one of the nation’s most popular and highly qualified traveling nurses who gave her all to the care of three other patients and me in the ICU.  She literally brought me back from thinking I was without hope, and she knew every trick in her bag of old-school skills to make me healthy both in mind and body.  

Mary is her name, and she is what makes a Southern Girl truly Southern.  She devoted herself entirely to her patients, and encouraged me to look toward wellness as a goal, and would tell me of my progress as she observed it unfolding.

Mary is brilliant, has the right heart for people, and would be the role model that I am recommending to HHS during their public comment period. 

I will never forget her and the extraordinary level of care and encouragement she gave to me. She will always be Mary, my Southern Nurse, definitely one out of 1000.
