My foot has held fast to his Steps
It has followed my Master
Through the thickets and woods,
Through the hedges and fences
Making sure my print is into the one he leaves behind.
My foot has held fast to his Steps
It goes and stands where he once stood.
On the mountain top or rocky wedges
On smooth ground with a clear passway
Making sure I am not behind time.
My foot has held fast to his Steps
When he slows down, I rest my heels
When his pace quickens, I do the same.
Our prints threaded together
In a custom made route
Packed with so many memories on the way.
My foot has held fast to his Steps
Hemming in on all sides.
It scrambles to be in the same moment
A moment to stand still and stand with him
My foot has held fast to his Steps
Even if Time races ahead of me
Angels corner in from all sides.
Speeding up the mileage
To make sure I get back the time lost
In an altogether new moment and step.
My foot has held fast to his Steps
In a path that drips with love.
In a path that maybe narrow and winding
But the joy of a walk together,
A travel to remember
Making this step the pathway of the heart.
