Scripture:
“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned.” — Isaiah 9:2 (NIV)
Advent invites us to slow down and reflect. It’s not just about counting days till Christmas — it’s about remembering that Christ came, Christ comes, and Christ will come again.
In a world filled with darkness, Isaiah's prophecy gives us hope: a Light is coming. The people of Israel waited for centuries for the Messiah. Their waiting was marked by longing, pain, and silence — yet God fulfilled His promise in the birth of Jesus.
Today, we wait again — for Christ to be born in our hearts anew, and for His return. But we don’t wait without hope. Advent is a season of expectant faith, a time to prepare room in our lives for Jesus.
As we light the first candle — the Candle of Hope — we’re reminded: even when everything feels uncertain, God is faithful. His promises never fail.
Prayer:
Lord, teach me to wait with hope. In the noise and rush of this season, help me prepare my heart for You. Let the light of Christ shine in my life today. Amen.
Thought for the Day:
Advent reminds me that God always keeps His promises.
Prayer Focus:
For hearts to be filled with hope during this Advent season.
