Suddenly awake in the middle of the night, I picked up my Bible beside the bed and opened it entirely at random.

Well!

Immediately my eyes focussed on the amazing statement in Exodus 12, verse 13 - “When I see the blood, I will pass over you!”

God was telling Moses how he would punish Pharaoh and make him allow the captive Israelites to go out of Egypt.

But one thing the Israelites must do - paint the doorposts and lintels of their houses with the blood of the animal they killed for their final meal.

God said he would not destroy the occupants of any such blood-painted home.

Hence his great promise - “When I see the blood, I will pass over you!” 

What a precious provision for you and for me!

“Having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.”
Hebrews 10:19

“For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”
1 Corinthians 5:7
