                                 What Is Prayer?
                                 By Robert Schaetzle

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7 ESV

Those weary in Spirit, prayer is witnessing the power God’s presence, waiting to be recognized. Discovering God’s love to perform HIS purpose for his followers calling out to Him.

We live our lives by grace through faith for God to act. It is not about (my) reasoning or want, but renewing our faith for things not yet seen. For who hopes for what he sees? Prayer is best when listening to the Voice of God’s Spirit speak to us.

Prayer teaches me- ‘I’m not in charge of my life.’ When we utter our praises and petitions, it is remembering – “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” not my will.

Prayer is being found 'In Jesus,' not having a righteousness of my own, but through God, from His sufficiency.

Prayer surpasses the seven wonders of the world around us. When praying scripture, it is recognizing God at work to bring His blessed assurance to our heart.

Prayer is witnessing our children and grandchildren perform the achievement they work for. Whether it be an academic grade, a sporting achievement, an artistic musical skill, or having those little one’s snuggle up in your lap to share with them some of your life’s experiences.

Prayer is witnessing the result of bringing care and comfort to a neighbor or friend. Prayer is witnessing God’s strength renew my aging body to keep on keep’n’ on when I don’t feel good.

Prayer is listening to ‘Voice of God’s word to determine what is important over the urgent, learning to say “NO” when necessary.

Father, prayer is waiting on YOU, and witnessing our hope fulfilled as promised through your word, like the morning sun, new every morning.

Robert serves in a sharing and caring ministry to encourage and strengthen God’s presence in us
