                 Faith Closes The Door To Fear

No distrust made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God,  fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. Romans 4:20-21 RSV 

These verses speak of God’s promises to  Abraham through faith. Reviewing  the life of Abraham, tells of one man and his family who God chose to build the nation of Israel. A nomad living in a distant land from where God would lead him.

Not unlike us as we too, practice and recognize faith given us through our living out life’s experiences as did Abraham.  They become the foundation to put our lives in God’s leading, as a test of our persevering. Without wavering to trust God’s will to answer our own petitions in His time and by His design.

Taking hold of something and pursuing that goal, things or circumstances become more transparent. To increase our own confident trust. Reading and knowing what the writer of Hebrews 11:1 tells us; assurance of things hoped for. It’s the beginning of closing the door to fear, truly believing without seeing.

The key to victory over fear about matters comes in the promise God gives us from Hebrews 11:6. ‘And without faith it is impossible to please him. For whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.’(RSV)

Often we hear the phrase, ‘Letting go and letting God…’ This is what learning trust is all about. When Abram, at age 75 was told to leave Haran with his wife and family,  to go to a place called Canaan, for sure ‘faith’ is what led him. Not to question God, but listening to the ‘Voice of God’  to lead, was faith in action!

Father, I know your teaching and allowing us to bring increase to our own faith, as you did for Abraham. It closes the door to fear, amen
