“The fool has said in his heart, ‘There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, they have altogether become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.” Psalm 14:1-3

“There is no God” is what is said by the fool and he really is saying, there is no God for me, because by merely saying it, God is not negated in any way. The fool is but thinking erroneously that he is negating his personal responsibility before God.

He, like many, say this in their heart and though not uttered by their lips, the existence of this declaration in their hearts is revealed by their actions as they live their lives.Abominable works follow this musing of the heart.

The eyes of the LORD search over the earth to see those who seek Him and from the psalmist’s perspective, there are very few who fall into this category. Their very conscience tells them there is a right way but they “turned aside” and corruption became their reward.

Because it should grieve me to be counted as one who says (because of my actions) there is no God for me; may I testify to the presence of the Lord in my life, that there would be no doubt (in reference to how I live my life,) that there is a God and He is active in my life, by His grace and for His glory.
