                               What Is Our Evidence?

 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own. 1 Corinthians 6:19 RSV

I ask myself often, “What is my evidence for the salvation I have received through Jesus?” Am I submissive when I gather with others for weekly worship? Especially in my daily quiet moments alone with You. To listen and learn?” I ask often to let me hear the ‘voice of His Spirit.’

As a writer, I maintain a daily journal and make detailed notes whenever I perceive His Voice speaking to me.  In my senior years I realize the value of being a good note-taker, even from our Sunday morning messages. I can be challenged to focus more on what’s being shared when I jot down something important.

Remember the incident when Samuel was a young boy? When he heard God’s Spirit calling him thinking it was Eli?  (cf:1 Samuel 3:4-10) When the young boy Samuel understood it was not Eli , but the ‘Voice of God,’ this became a milestone for who Samuel was to become as a Judge of Israel.

Sharing this is to imply… we too,  can become better listeners to hear the ‘Voice of God’s Spirit, even the ‘Voice of God’s word.’ Learning to be a better ‘doer of God’s word,’ brings evidence for each one of us, as to the responsibility given us for any  particular moment or situation. There is no task given from God, that He will not instruct or equip us.

For sure… ‘we are not our own,’ but challenged with blessings and greater confidence, to share with others along way. Especially when asked to serve or participate in something big, we might be fearful of.   

Father, thank you for opening my heart to discover; I am not my own, to recognize, you equip and lead me, as evidence to your Spirit at work. Amen
