                             Paradox of Scripture

 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 RSV

Many times we experience moments or a season throughout  our lives that just don’t make sense. We might be thinking in our own heart, “Why is this happening,” or, “Lord, I don’t get it!” Coming to faith as a follower of Jesus takes on new challenges for sure. Things we did before coming to faith were about following the desires of our own heart and without thought, if we’re honest with ourselves. We live as the world around us, without understanding to what’s going to happen today or tomorrow. Much less think of honoring our Lord by nurturing loved one’s to commit their lives to follow the promises of biblical truths.

Our living ‘In Christ,’ is to recognize our own sufficiency is very limited. The power and preeminence of the Holy Spirit abiding in each believer gives wisdom to understand what doesn’t make sense to the carnal world around us.
 And he said to all, “If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake, he will save it.
Luke 9:23-24

Again, one might ask… “how do I gain something by not possessing, but  losing something?” Much like one who feels weak or unqualified for a given task or request put upon them. But only to realize with Christ nothing is impossible. ( Luke 1:37)

Father, it truly is a grace awakening to recognize the paradox, ‘for when I am weak, then I am strong.’
