                            How Do We Walk?

No greater joy can I have than this, to hear that my children follow the truth. 3 John verse 4 RSV

When John wrote this third Epistle to his beloved Gaius, I feel it was as though he was addressing this to someone as his own personal son. We know of John’s ‘Gaius,’ more than any of the others mentioned in the new testament. There are actually four mentioned in the New Testament.

John’s Gaius was spiritually healthy, seeking God’s word as truth of Christ. A selfless servant recognized by his actions. The first century Christians in particular, were very motivated to possess Jesus as ‘The Truth.’ Learning to walk as true ‘followers’ of Jesus through faith. We too, should walk as one of God’s favorite, since he created each one of us as special.  

When, we know and accept God’s word as truth, we truly have God’s peace which passes all other understanding. Remember what Jesus said in John’s Gospel chapter 8:31-32?
 ‘Jesus then said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples,  and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” 
When we walk ‘the truth,’ then and only then can we become  stronger to proclaim Jesus as Truth.

Our confidence becomes God’s sufficiency in us without fear what others say or believe. We’re set free from intimidation what others do not know.

Our culture around us is falling apart more and more at the seams. When we walk in ‘Truth,’ (Jesus), the fear of oppression for sharing and walking ‘In Him,’ overcomes all opposition.  

As of 2023 there are figures of around 2.4 Billion individuals who wear the name ‘Christian’ worldwide. But how many of these people are true followers of ‘Jesus?’ Those who walk daily with Jesus as their way for living?

Father, lead us to walk with Jesus as the ‘Cornerstone’ to our faith. Amen
