Jesus in the desert series
Provision with targeted purpose
Mathew 14:14-
In Matthew chapter 14 from verse 14, it was reported that Jesus fed 5000 people. he did not want these people to faint on the road as it was reported in Matthew chapter 15 from Verse 32.since there was no other means, the initial proposal given to him by his disciple was to let the people leave because it was already getting late. Jesus refused. He requested the people be seated calmly. His disciples were surprised and wonder the possibility. Since there was no food and enough money to prosecute such project. Fortunately, they discovered a boy with five loaves and fish. Jesus commanded the people to sit down. Tthe two accounts in Mathew 14 and 15, respectively does not present the possibility with reality on ground of feeding these multitude of people! however Jesus wanted to feed them. Why! He will always sustain those that rely on him, no matter what! it is important to also know that it was a desert, which represent intense scarcity, as been faced in many places, locality and globally. He collected the loaves, blessed, break and share them. There are many lesson from these, here is a few:
1. God is interested in feeding every hungry people who depend and trust him. These people gave their time and energy to learn from the master in the wilderness. They waited patiently to hear from him and were taught by Jesus. he taught, healed and fed them. He won’t send them empty!
2. In the process of providing the food, He asked them to sit. Necessary patience is never foolishness. He needed to seek for food, the disciple had to search, discovered, brought these few pieces to Jesus to bless and to be shared by the disciples. Every one can get this at the same time, they needed to wait however, everyone was fed. While waiting, trusting His process, everyone was served!
3. Multiplication in scarcity is only God' possibility. Life is always with seasons and moment of scarcity just as there will always be moment of plenty. While God expected prudence in season of abundance, He expect us to have trust in Him to multiply in the time of scarcity.
4. A little boy gave the little he had to Jesus. it was multiplied to meet the need of the multitude. These loaves and fish were well prepared. (processed) even little. It is necessary that we process our raw gifts, talents and abilities with skills before they are considered for out door performance. Processed abilities requires knowledge, training, understanding and skill. They may not transform properly into expected values when they are not pivoted with needed learning, knowledge and skill.
5. it is relevant at this Junction to note that the little will have has great potential in the hand of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, required effort to make them transformable is needed attention, usually given in secret to his words, will and prayer matters. The multiplied food were well prepared!
6. The presence of Jesus determined the Multiplication and miracle in the desert. God presence is needed in all situation. Because these people were with Jesus, they could experience an important Miracle. Desert signified famine moment! it was written in the second king Chapter 4 from 40-44. There was a similar situation that was repeated in that place of a particular group of people (sons of the prophets) and lacked bread. A man came from a particular nearby village with bread made from barley as a part of his first fruit and gave it to them. unfortunately these 20 loaves will not be enough to take care of the Hundred lives but the presence of the servant of God in that place changed the narration. They were all fed because they were in the presence of God.
7. There are categories of famine or scarcity in life: intellectual, emotional physical, financial,networks etc, however, all can be attended to by God, his presence is highly necessary here!
8. God love preparing his children for the next assignment if cooperated with. it was similar to the situation of Elijah when God told him twice 'stand up eat for The journey is too great for you. Jesus asked the disciple, how can we send this once empty! Every year has it own challenges, every stage in life requires some actions, resources, help and encouragement. God sees into the future, and when we walk with him, He leads us through. We can never be stranded when we are with him. Never!
