Great in your midst is the Holy one!
For the babe would not have leapt in joy
On hearing the sweet voice of the young maiden
As she came bearing the Holy one in her womb.
Great in your midst is the Holy one!
For Elizabeth would not have cried in joy
On hearing the voice of the mother of her Lord
In granting the great favour of visiting her.
Great in your midst is the Holy One!
For Mary would not have sang the praises of God
Exalting and magnifying his graces,
In bestowing the greatest honour on her
To give birth to the Son of God.
Great in your midst is the Holy one!
The Power of the most High
Overshadowed the daughter of Zion,
When her heart became one with the Holy Spirit
To create a tiny being who would rule the world.
