I received the living God
I do not have to push through the crowd
I do not have to stretch with all my might
To touch the hem of his tassle.
He comes to me right in my heart
At every Eucharist that I receive him.

I received the living God
I do not have to rush through the hills
Run to make it to the other side of the shore
To hear him preach and teach.
He comes to me right in my heart
Where his spirit speaks to me all day long.

I received the living God
In the new upper room of this day
The Church that houses his Blessed Sacrament,
The table that memorises his famous supper
The same night replayed at every mass
Where he really comes to feed me again.

I received the living God
The bread of life more life giving
Than the manna that rained down in the desert.
The body and blood of Christ in my soul
He is in communion forever with me
In the new eternal covenant of time.

I received the living God
I have seen the living God.
I have touched the living God
I have felt his power and love.
He alone can give me endless life.
