The Steep climb
Once on the high Mount of Tabor
High above the land and sea.
Jesus climbed with three of his men
Allowed them to see his glory
And hear the Father's pleasing voice.
The Steep climb
Many a times on a favourite mount.
The Mount of Olives, the mount of prayer
A quiet time between the Father and him.
Alas! the same place an apprehended one
It was here that his soul was sorrowful unto death.
The Steep climb
The toughest climb on a rocky mount.
Mount Calvary with its rough and stony turns
The Lord fell several times with his cross.
It was here that his passion came to pass
As he hung for three hours nailed to his grieving heart.
The Steep climb
The final climb into the heavens.
Far outside the city his ascent
By his own power be went up.
As apostles watched and angels came
A gospel task given to all until he comes again.
