On the first day
He was tried in an unfair trial.
The only begotten son of the Father
Offered on the sacrificial scale for us.
On the second day
He slept in the heart of the earth.
He went right down to Hades
To release and take the sleeping ones of long.
On the third day
He moved the heavy boulder away
He came out of his own tomb
Having saved the entire human race.
On the same day
He moved between walls and rooms.
Appeared to many of his own
Even celebrated an Emmaus paschal meal.
On the eight day
He appeared a second time in the upper room.
The marks of the nails on his hands and feet
A testimony to his brutal death,
His new body to be believed without seeing.
On the fortieth day
He went back into his former place
The heavens from where he had come.
Returned to his own father on ascension
Seated forever at his right hand
To judge the living and the dead.
On the fiftieth day
The tongues of fire fell from above
Hanging over those in the upper room.
The Holy Spirit making its presence at last
There is no stopping God's work from then, now and for ages more.
