Does America Need an October 7th?

Divided, we barely stand.

America, the United States, needs a wake-up call. Something to get us out of our current stupor. Nope. Make that stupidity. Some say the current state of affairs resembles that which history recalls as the years leading up to the Civil War.

In the months prior to Oct. 7, 2023 Israel was in disarray. They, like the United States, were divided. Then Hamas attacked and now the nation of Israel stands. United. Like a funeral brings together divided family members, the terrorist attack on the nation of Israel brought its people together. United, some Jews flew “home” to defend their nation.

So then, what can possibly unite the United States? Remember the weeks following September 11, 2001? I do. United we stood. Sadly, just for a few weeks. Then the president of the Republican party drew scorn from Democrats, the opposing party. Don’t misunderstand. I’m hardly a fan of George W. Bush. But week after week after week we heard accusation after accusation  after accusation. That guy is dead now. But his statue stands in Boston Logan Airport. That itself shows how brainwashed the brainwashed get.

But I digress.

If the coming terrorist attack makes 9/11 look like a picnic will the United States unite? Wait, what? The coming attack? Do you really think this country escapes calamity in 2024? I know of no one who looks forward to 2024. Just this week prolific writer Victor Davis Hanson states in his piece “2024 – the Year of Our Reckoning” that “the tab for our current apathy, toxic politics, and incompetence will come due.” And, respected reporter Catherine Herridge made headlines for her prediction of a “black swan event” to negatively affect the United States in 2024. AND, a CNN article entitled “How 2023 has been ‘the year on the brink’ and 2024 could be Worse.” If you’re paying attention, the left, right and center all expect doom and gloom for the coming year for the United States,

So, everyone, OK not everyone expects dire straits for the country starting Jan. 1, 2024. I recently had dinner with a woman who thinks the answer to the nation’s drug problem rests in posting signs all around town (at least those towns with drug problems) stating that 80% of those who engage in such behavior die. Like the warnings on cigaretts packages. Tells you where some people’s minds rest.

Well, I can’t wait for 2024. Can you? Oh by the way, apparently one of the largest caravan of migrants set off for the United States / Mexico border this week. And no one cares. Not Joe Biden. No one in Congress. Democrats don’t care because all the new “votes” keep them in power and Republicans don’t care because… honestly, I have no idea. They claim to be border hawks but never take flight. They must have some sort of backroom deal with those actually in charge. Keep your mouth shut and we will “ensure” your reelection. One question no one cares to ask those in charge is “when is enough is enough?” A billion people worldwide would love to come here for the handouts and free stuff that our government promises. At what point do we say, “we’re full”?

We have aborted nearly 70 million unwanted babies since 1973 so might as well replace them with the unwanted from other counries. 

So then, maybe it shouldn’t be a question. Does America need an Oct. 7? How about a statement.  “America needs an Oct. 7.” It worked 22 years ago. For a few weeks anyway. A year or so later, a columnist with one of the Chicago papers opined whether the country needed another 9/11. That’s how quickly society dissolved and at least one person recognized if 9/11 brought the country together like no other time in history, perhaps we need another. Therefore, if a massive terrorist attack brought the United States to its knees once again, would the country unite like Jews united behind their homeland?

I don’t think so.

In Daniel 10, an angel explained to Daniel he was delayed for three weeks by the Prince of Persia, a demonic power. In Ephesians 6, Paul writes, ”For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” It can be argued that regions of the world, nations even, have assigned both good and bad spirits. Or angels and demons.

Biblically, the United States has no place in the End Times. Many, if not most, Americans believe the world revolves around US. Take that upper case or lower case. American pride cannot be understated but newsflash, the Lord has stamped His name on Israel not the United States. The Lord doesn’t need the United States but the United States certainly needs the Lord. And, we’ve told Him we don’t need him anymore.  I hate to say this, but I think the United States’ reign reached its height some time ago and the downward trajectory continues to speed up as the demonic infiltrates and the people embrace.

How the Lord judges America, no one can predict but our sins are many. Therefore, will a mass influx of illegal immigrants welcomed by our leaders and embraced by most citizens doom us into a revolving cycle of crime, poverty and high taxes? How about the Big One so many seismologists predict for the West Coast? We escaped a recession in 2023 (likely because of war spending in Ukraine) does our financial bill come due in 2024?

Or maybe our Oct. 7.

I don’t think it will unite us. In fact, it likely will further divide us resulting in the cataclysmic collapse of the nation.

And while we sit in disarray, perhaps our prophetic role indeed comes to light out of Ezekiel 38 as one of the young lions to protest those nations taking a spoil from Israel.

Because that’s all we will have to offer and that’s all we really know how to do anymore.

Protest.
