Cat TV

Location: Same living space for the characters for the 60 years they have been married.

Where the action is: Virginia, USA

The Setting: The Living room, where the TV is always on Cat TV, the channel cats like best!

What its about: Maude and Elmo are way beyond the time of remembering, with Elmo reminicing the ‘good ole days of travel’ and Maude thinking ‘How we got there scenario’s.

Meanwhile, Six lives and Purr-fect are meowing about life in general.

Characters: Maude in her 101st year, who is not sure where she is or what has happened at any given time. Elmo is in his 102nd year, who always claims they went somewhere they didn’t. Six Lives, is their 3 year old male tabby cat, and Purr-fect the 2 year old messy Siamese female, she likes to knock over cat food dishes!

Act 1:

Elmo: “Will you look at that Maude…Maude…woman where are you? I thought you were sitting in the chair over by the window…now you’re over by the couch!”

Maude: “I was over by the closet Elmo, ( looks at the two cats for confirmation, Purr-fect turns to face her and looks at her crosseyed) and then I went to get something from the kitchen…(looks into the dining room) yeah…over there on the counter were some cookies. Didn’t I…, Elmo didn’t I just come from the kitchen with cookies??”

Elmo: “Woman I can’t keep up with you. Everytime I try to talk to you of places we went to, that you can’t recall, you are not where you last were, and then I get confused !!”

Purrfect meows to Six Lives { Confused is not the word! She gave me for breakfast this morning, flap jacks that were for Elmo. He is so out of it, he ate my cat crunchies with milk on them!!} The two cats fall over into a fit of feline laughter and tumble all over the room, knocking down the plate of brownies Maude just brought in from the family room!!

Act 2: TV commercial shows the state of Utah, where they never went on a trip.

Elmo: “There Maude, right there is the place we went on a road trip a while back, (25 years ago in Louisanna) and it was a sunny day, (raining) and we had the ole ford pickup, ( an un-named jelopy) and we had such fun.” ( they were lost)

Maude: “No, no Elmo. We never took that (van) and went there. We went (north) to Georgia, remember?? Yes, we saw lots of pretty colored rocks with steam in them, I always wondered how They did that? “

Elmo: ( Straining to hear from the washing machine starting up) “Did what? Who They did what Maude? How can there be cream in rocks? Maude, where are you woman, how can I make conversation when you are running water?? Maude!!!!”

Maude: “Calm down Elmo, I am doing the laundry and washing your socks. You just take it easy and eat the cookies. Now where did they go to, oh yeah, I need to get them!!”

Finale:
Six Lives meows to Purr-fect{ “What silly people. This is Cat TV and Elmo thinks he and Maude are watching the Travel Channel!!}
Purr-fect replies{“Let’s get more flapjacks!!”}
