The birth of a child who would one day be King. There in Bethlehem that cold night in the unsuspecting surrounding of a stable, Mary and Joseph prepared for the miraculous birth of God’s son. God himself manifested in the flesh and would one day offer himself up for the sacrifice of all who would believe upon him. Mary had pondered in thought the visit from the Angel as had Joseph, and now the time had arrived for the child to be born. As all heaven viewed, Joseph placed Jesus in the arms of his mother and the Angels sighed at the birth of the Christ. Mary new her child was special, the virgin birth by the Holy Ghost. She was chosen of God to be one of the instruments that would bring salvation unto man. With exceeding joy she accepted this role. In my minds eye I can see her as she kissed the cheek of her newborn babe, and cuddled him in her arms. All the while pondering what the future held for him and her. The whole world slept in silent slumber while the King was born on earth.
Many people struggle with the birth of Christ, they have thoughts of the impossibility of a virgin birth. I’ve read over different articles where the birth would be explained in a non-miraculous way. I’m amazed how man desires to bring God down to the level where they dwell, instead of seeking for the spirituality that allows them the faith to be elevated to the place where God is. The bible says in Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. So many struggle with this scripture on faith. When they lay down at night they have no doubt they will after a good nights sleep, awake in the morning rested. We read in the news where people die in their sleep from fire, natural causes, murder and other reasons every single day. And yet they have the faith needed to drift off to sleep, believing that in the morning they will awake. All the while they struggle with the things of God. They have no trouble accepting their own creation, or the creation of their child, but they cannot accept the birth of Christ. They can speed down the road in the dark of night exceeding the speed limit, all the while believing that nothing lies in the road ahead. In the simplest things in their life exercising faith, yet are caught by a snare at the birth of Christ. No faith to believe the miracle of a virgin birth. It’s reported by scientist that when a man and woman conceive to have a child, the child’s blood comes from the father. And when the Holy Ghost moved upon Mary and she conceived in the virgin birth and brought forth Jesus Christ the Son of God. It prepared a way for God through his son to give his own blood for the remission of mans sin. How could he love you any more than to give his own son and his own blood just to save you? We are born to live then die; Christ was born to die so that we through him might live again.
I’ve listened in astonishment to people explaining away the miracles of the bible. As Elijah prayed for the child of the Shun Amite woman, he lay upon the child in prayer; the child sneezed seven times then lived. I’ve heard it explained how Elijah had performed “CPR” reviving the child from sunstroke. There is a real danger in pursuing the line of thinking it takes to derive at these types of conclusions. The bible says in Deuteronomy 32:20 “And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith”. Accepting the bible as it is written and relying on God with the Holy Spirit to lead us to the understanding we desire to have, is exercising faith. Being a froward person is someone walking in their own self will, and someone who will never find the wisdom and knowledge of God until they lay their will aside and seek after the will of Him. We must have patience and wait on the evidence from God, for the knowledge of things not yet seen. Running blindly toward a carnal conclusion to satisfy our mortal minds only dilutes the value of the word in you. And it serves the purpose of Satan to deceive mankind and provide him a delusion for the validity of the scriptures.
The scriptures say in Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. An unrighteous person may try and solve the mysteries of the bible in their own mind with simple modern day terminology. They may try soothing their mortal curiosity by accepting in their mind that Joseph and Mary had premarital sex, resulting in the birth of Jesus. That Elijah performed the first case of ancient CPR. Yet when Christians explore the carnal line of thinking it begins to erode their relationship with God. As Christians, our only access to God is through Jesus by the Holy Spirit with faith. The bible says in Romans 5:2 “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God”. There is no harm in the questions we have about the events in the bible, yet if we seek for explanations that twist the scripture out of context we risk losing the very thing that secured our soul with Christ. The scriptures say in 1 Corinthians 2:5 “That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God”. God is the Author and finisher of your faith. Believing the scriptures until the time God provides and interpretation through the Holy Spirit is a part of faith building.
There is nothing that Satan would enjoy more than to have the scriptures themselves become a stumbling block in your Christian life. Accepting the Old along with the New Testament miracles is as important as accepting all the scriptures to be the “inspired word of God”. The birth, the raising of the dead, healing the blind, the deaf, and the diseased, to the natural seems unnatural. But to the spiritual seem not only plausible but also accurate. Remember what Jesus told Thomas before he ascended into heaven, John 20:29 “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed”. Having the faith to believe what the scriptures say is essential to your character building with God. You will attain a greater relationship with God by exercising patience while examining the scriptures with faith. Men want to put simple answers to complicated questions. But Gods ways are far above mans, there is and innumerable amount of questions that mankind seek for the answers to. The answers to many are mysteries that are hidden and will only be answered in the eternal life. Having the faith to accept Gods way above our way is essential to your spiritual growth in him. Everything can’t be touched or handled; we accept the miracle of life the existence of the universe, the creation of everything from the air to warmth of the sun, and yet we struggle with the miracle of Christ.
