How Are You Doing?

What is your standard answer to our question? I’m okay, fine, good, or? Or do you rehearse and reinforce your troubles with the person and yourself, thus adding to your depression? No matter what your answer is, I have been there, but not today, in my head and out loud my bold statement is ‘I AM DOING GREAT!’ Here is why:

It stops me from rehearsing my fears, worries and woes, wrong thinking, talking and seeking attention from others to commiserate with me over them.

It defeats self-pity and a martyr complex that only destroys.

It forces me to go to God alone who can really help.

It takes my thoughts captive, renews, strengthens and lifts me out of depression.

It stops compulsive negative thinking that can make my problems seem bigger than God.

Am I being truthful? Absolutely! No matter what is happening in this temporary world, things are great, if I am walking by faith in eternal things and not by sight in the temporal as God has instructed. I am a new creation in Christ, forgiven, holy, righteous, sanctified, a child of God with eternal life. I am a citizen of heaven, a coheir with Christ, greatly loved and highly favored and headed for a great inheritance. Believing and boldly stating ‘I AM DOING GREAT’ no matter what is happening in this fallen world, forces me to focus on the absolute truth we all have in Christ and be thankful.

If you start telling yourself and others boldly, I AM DOING GREAT, they will notice and ask questions? It will lift your spirit and attract people instead of repelling them. Then you can easily share Jesus and eternal things.

If you need prayer, then seek it from a trusted confidant. But do not rehearse woes in your head, or with multiple people. Just a simple request for prayer as you voice confidence that God is in control.

Talk to God about your concerns and cry out to Him alone for help. Pour your heart out to him as needed. He alone has the right answers.

Words and thoughts have incredible power. We must stop rehearsing and reinforcing our worries, fears and woes no matter what we face. We must heed God’s advice and focus on the eternal truth we have in Christ to walk in His power, freedom and victory in this life too.
