Great Help in Decision Making

I recently heard a great sermon series at church about how to easily make Godly and much better decisions, by making foundational decisions for our future, today. Firm decisions today to obey God over man will make our future a whole lot easier and much less complicated.  The big key to making better and Godly decisions is to pre-decide.  

Here are a few examples. We can pre-decide to act in love toward others no matter how they treat us, to not allow our heart to be hardened by anything that happens, to forgive quickly, to not get offended, to trust God in all things, to do the next right thing, to spend daily time with God’s Word, to walk by faith and not sight, to face our fears and to not let our hearts be troubled or afraid. There are so many excellent and God honoring foundational decisions in the Word, pre-decisions that will make our lives so much better, not to mention less complicated. If we call ourselves Christians and we desire to honor God, these pre-decisions will be numerous and easily come to our attention in the Word. And while these are God honoring, we also know that God’s instructions are given so we can be blessed. God will smile and be blessed and so will we. In our heart of hearts, we know these pre-decisions are for our best and will help to show others the remarkable love and power of Christ.

These decisions are best made today, they are difficult to make in the heat of hurt, anger and temptation when our flesh wants to take charge. Just think how our lives would change if each time the enemy tempts us to be offended, not forgive, or harden our hearts, we had firmly pre-decided to respond God’s way. These foundational pre-decisions will give our still fallen flesh much less control in our lives. Instead of unforgiveness and the ensuing damage it brings us, we have pre-decided to reject unforgiveness and to not allow our hearts to be hardened.

My suggestion is to start with an area you have issues with, like pre-deciding to reject offense. What foundational decisions will you make today so that your life will be God honoring and easier tomorrow? What will you firmly pre-decide?
