Age disqualifies no one from serving God. No one is too old or too young for God to use them for His Kingdom. Josiah was eight years old when he became king over Jerusalem. As the Word tells, he began to seek God at the age of sixteen. At the age of twenty, he purged Judah and Jerusalem of idols and images of pagan gods! There have been many other young kings who defied age as a qualification for serving God. Uzziah was sixteen years old when he sat on the throne to rule Jerusalem (cf. 2 Chronicles 26:1 NIV). He tasted success, through God, as long as he sought the Lord. Jotham was twenty-five when he took over the throne (cf. 2 Chronicles 27:1 NIV) and he grew powerful, for he walked steadfastly before the Lord his God. There are other people in the Bible who defy the age factor with their spiritual strength. It’s interesting to know how Daniel, even at his young age and being away from his family resolved not to defile himself with royal food and wine (cf. Daniel 1:8 NIV). Such an act needs a good spiritual foundation.

Jesus said the Kingdom belongs to such as these, as he referred to children (cf. Luke 18:15-17 NIV). As seen in life of above mentioned kings, God made all those successful who were determined to seek him. If we give this perspective to our children in their young age, their chances of serving the Kingdom could be great!
