Neither Do I

   “When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, ‘Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?’

   She said, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.’ ” John 8:10,11

   The men that had been surrounding her, (preparing to take her life), fled at the word of Jesus, convicted of their own sin.

   Now she stood before the One who could not only take her life but also, the One who determined her soul’s destiny.

   “Neither do I condemn you” were the gracious words from Jesus’s lips, quickly followed by the admonition to go home and live the new life she had been given. He did not say...Carry on as you were. He said, “Go and sin no more.” What better indication could there be that she had met the Saviour? The same grace that saved her could raise her to a new level of life.

   What must the woman had thought during this whole process? She faced what would have been certain death at the hands of her accusers but then heard the words of grace from the Saviour. From death to life in a short period of time and she owed it all to the One who came not to condemn but to save.

   Sin had placed her at death’s door; there was no denying this. But Jesus stood in the doorway and did not condemn her soul to death but offered it life.
