Author requests article critique

I love small, cute houses. I've always dreamed of owning one myself- a quaint bungalow with two or three bedrooms, open plan living spaces, showcasing both the rustic and modern; my little slice of heaven on earth. As it happens, I don't exactly have that now. In fact, I have quite a number of issues with where I live.

But beyond the roof over my head, there are other situations around me that I'm not loving. I currently have a few strained relationships, with more than a few people rather displeased with me. I also seem to have more needs than I can afford to meet. Suffice it to say, I'm not quite loving where I am now.

Despite all going on within and around me, am I allowed to lose my joy? Does it justify my lack of peace? Unfortunately, no. Many have gone through worse, yes...

"They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity." (2 Cor 8:2).

Yet, they overflow with joy. I don't have any excuse. Even if there's a lot going on around that I don't like and would love to change, I can and should still hold onto my joy and peace. Because my joy and peace do not depend on what's going on around me, which sometimes are beyond my control; they are of the Spirit Who is in control within me.

Question is: "Is the Spirit still in control?"

Father, forgive me for straying and leaving the path of peace and joy. Lord, have mercy and lead me in your way. Holy Spirit, please, come and take control of me, now and always. Amen.
