                                     Don’t Walk In Darkness

This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5 RSV

How blessed we are, of this promise living in us. That is, God’s abiding presence of The Holy Spirit, to intercede and lead us. On a Wednesday evening with the children at AWANA, I shared an event that happened to me when I was growing.

I was walking home from my friend’s house on a warm summer evening, who lived down the street, about half block away from our home. It was dark, such that the street lights were on. About every twenty yards or so I could witness my shadow from the light behind me. But at a certain distance between the light behind me and the light ahead of me I witnessed two shadows. I became frightened as to think there was someone stalking me. Only to realize  moments later it was my own self I saw as two different shadows, because of the distance I was standing between the two lights.

The shadows of darkness from this world around us, will play tricks on us too,  when we take our eyes off; ‘The Light of Jesus,’ to lead.

 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. I John 1:7
This becomes our promise and hope fulfilled, always having His light, His abiding word and Spirit in us leading the walk we take.

Father, thank you for the brightness of your Holy Spirit to illumine my way.
