                      ‘New Birth’ For Christmas

 Since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.

Celebrating our Savior’s first Advent is also to remind me of my ‘new birth.’

When I might feel down, or  maybe just a ‘casual acquaintance’ with our Lord, I always remember who I am. Through the abiding presence of His Spirit, His power never goes off-line. I never have to deal with interruptions. There simply is no such thing as ‘power outages’ when meditating upon His promises, through His word.

What better gift could I give myself, but to open His word that I have laid up in my heart. When I feel lost in the woods of fear or stress during this most wonderful time of our Advent season. I’m reminded constantly: ‘Loving Christmas should not be our ultimate blessing. But loving Jesus because of Christmas’ (David Jeremiah)

Having our children, grandchildren and family brings much blessing when we gather and celebrate our lord with one another. But we’re never to forget what God gives us, as we gather, celebrating and worshipping the One who made it all possible.

 He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,  whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3:5-6

Father, the ‘new birth’ you give us must be to focus with purpose; to recognize your Spirit, abiding in us, to lead us and deliver us. Especially when we gather and sing… ‘O Come, let us adore HIM’
