                            Living in a Monarchy

‘But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well.’ Mathew 6:33RSV

This land we live in called ‘The United States of America,’ established 246 years ago from our Declaration of Independence. We proclaim ourselves a Republic.

Yet, as followers of Jesus, are not of this world. Even to recognize our citizenship of this Republic. Rather, as believers in Christ, live in ‘The Monarchy of King Jesus.’ Regardless of what part of the world we might live.

When the soldiers led our Lord away, inside the palace…
‘And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and plaiting a crown of thorns they put it on him. And they began to salute him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”’ Mark 15:17-18

We live under the authority of ‘King Jesus,’ as ‘Followers of the Way,’ even two thousand years later. Many suffer and are martyred who wear His name. What we do and say, as we proclaim our King, can often lead to much oppression or death. Consider those wearing the Name ‘Jesus,’  daily under threat in some parts of the world?

Living in the Monarchy of King Jesus, we’re challenged every day, to become who God created us to be.
O Lord, thou hast searched me and known me! Thy eyes beheld my unformed substance; in thy book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. How precious to me are thy thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm 139: 1, 16, 17

Father, thank you for giving us your Monarchy. Lead us to be worthy of your Kingdom-AMEN
