THE REAL JESUS, Part 9

Jesus makes a startling statement in John 11:25-26. “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

     In chapter 11 Jesus brings a dead man named Lazarus back to life. The man had been dead for four days. Jesus simply called out, “Lazarus, come forth!” The man walked out of the tomb! 

     Soon after Lazarus was raised from the dead, a dinner was held in the town of Bethany. The people there included Jesus, two women, and Lazarus. Imagine sitting down to eat, and at the table is one raised from the dead. I am sure that might have made for quite a dinner conversation. 

     While there, one of the women, Mary, anointed the feet of Jesus with an expensive perfume, and wiped his feet with her hair. It was a humble act of worship. She knelt at his feet. When you recognize the REAL JESUS, you too will want to kneel before him. 

     Although Jesus raised a person from the dead physically, his main reason for coming to earth was to lift people out of their graves of spiritual darkness and death, separated from God. 

     Just as Jesus called Lazarus by name, he is calling you by name to come out of your spiritual darkness, your addictions, your past, and your bondage. He desires for you to start over with a new nature free of your old way of living. Say “yes” to his call. Jesus will receive you with outstretched arms. 

     Just as the woman knelt at the feet of Jesus, you can come to the foot of the cross that represents forgiveness of sins and your past, and hope for the future. It means life eternal. Some people today are taking a knee for political reasons. Decide to take a knee at the cross in worship before THE REAL JESUS.
