There are many voices in our culture today crying for attention. Each of these voices will lead a person down a path in life, many times not knowing what the end result will be. A new word coined as a result of the COVID restrictions is “sheeple,” meaning people who, like sheep, follow and comply without asking any questions. I hope you have not been a “sheeple.” Then there is the TV program, The Voice, where the judges turn around in their seats if they like the person’s voice. 

     In John 10 Jesus addresses the issue of what voice people listen to. He uses the example of a sheepfold. Jesus says he is like the entrance to a sheepfold and says, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he shall be saved.” 

     In verse 27 Jesus says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.” 

     Just as the shepherd stands at the entrance of the sheepfold making sure that no sheep get out or nothing gets in that doesn’t belong, so Jesus is the “shepherd” to eternal life for any person who listens to his voice. 

     If you choose to follow a ”voice” it is important to know why. Ask yourself that question, and where it might lead you. In the case of the voice of Jesus, you don’t have to be a “sheeple.”  He can become the shepherd of your soul, leading to hope, peace, and the assurance of life beyond the grave, if you will follow his voice. His voice is based upon the claims he made concerning himself, and his resurrection from the dead! 

     All other voices of the culture won’t give you what THE REAL JESUS can.
