INTRODUCTION  

     This 12 part series of articles is based on the Gospel of John, the fourth book of The New Testament. It is primarily directed toward people who have never been introduced to the real Jesus of the Bible. The Book of John tells about the life, teachings, and sayings of Jesus, including claims he made about himself. This book tells how to have eternal life. It is an eye-witness account from people who lived and interacted with Jesus when he lived on earth over 2,000 years ago.

     Because of the present world conditions and events, especially the last several years with COVID, people are looking for a savior for humanity. If you read this series with an honest and open mind, you may come to recognize that the Jesus who Christians celebrate at Christmas is THE one and only Savior. You will learn how Jesus interacted with the culture. The purpose of this Gospel is stated in John 20:31. “These things are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life in his name.”

     What one believes about Jesus is the primary issue. It has nothing to do with religion or following some moral law or even living a good life. Belief in Jesus is the dividing line that brings equality to all, regardless of race, background, or culture, in the sense that every person has an equal opportunity to accept him as his or her Savior, no matter how good or messed up their life has been. It is my prayer that readers will come to know Jesus much more than simply a historical figure, but as the Savior who will bring peace, hope, and a purpose for living, to their life, as well as life eternal. 

     As we progress through the Gospel of John, chapters and verses will be noted in parenthesis. These 12 articles do not necessarily follow the chapters. I will be posting one article a week for the next 12 weeks, so you can follow this narrative through to completion. Look for the title, “The Real Jesus” part 1, part 2, etc.
