What's going on for the souls of the homeless in Bucks County, PA is a microcosm of the culture war in our country. The visit to a homeless camp in southern Bucks County a few years back from representatives of Penndel Mental Health Center and the Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission represents two different paradigms of how to help the homeless.

Penndel Mental Health Center relies heavily on psychotropic drugs to try to help people. The underlying premise to use so-called medication to deal with people's problems is the idea some pinheads in the medical community dreamed up decades ago to synthesize the mental/psychological state with the physical/physiological condition of people with problems.

Penndel Mental Health has been aggressively trying to bring the homeless aboard their programs. Representatives not only have shown up at homeless camps and the public library, but they've been recruiting at the Salvation Army in Levittown. The secular mental health center has teamed up with the Advocates for the Homeless and Those in Need (AHTN). On its Facebook page, AHTN touts the Bucks County Shower Mission, which is "Supported by Advocates for Homeless & Those in Need & Penndel Mental Health." In the winter at Code Blues, AHTN acts as emcee as they present representatives from the secular center.

The Covid pandemic has been used by tyrants and excuse makers to repress the church by trying to keep people from gathering in his name. In Bucks County, AHTN has used the pandemic as an excuse for not taking the homeless to the community meals at churches, where the gospel is presented.

Only one church regularly hosted the meals since early in the pandemic, despite AHTN holding up the works by not transporting the homeless to the meals. Recently, two more churches started hosting sit down dinners. At the last one I attended, after the prayer, the pastor asked the guests if they remember Bible stories about Jesus healing the sick. Some guests spoke up. The pastor then read the scripture, did an exegesis on it and gave a practical application to drive the point home. Hosts came to the tables to talk with the guests. They asked them if there were any concerns and prayed with them.

Medication and secular psychology is not helping people. To help people with problems in the homeless community they should be presented the gospel. Just as they choose to feed their bodies, they are given the opportunity to feed their souls.

The Bible has the power to change lives, in any situtation you are in, including homelessness.

The homeless should not be excluded from the Great Commission!
