                     He Who Created Us-Saves Us

He saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit Titus 3:5 RSV

How special it is to recognize; in biblical Christianity, God reaches down to man to establish a relationship with us, in spite of our sin filled nature. In all other religions mankind must gain merit. That is, to believe he must work for what Christ alone, did for us on the cross.

The bible teaches that God, from his own design, so loved man, in spite of our sins, bridged the gap between God and man through Jesus. His mercy resulted in man not having to suffer the cross what Christ did for us. We don’t suffer the punishment we deserve, but receive the blessing and forgiveness we don’t deserve.

A story told of a religious leader who was wanting to board a train as a man approached and asked if he was saved?  The religious leader replied said, “I was saved in the year 33 AD when Jesus died on the cross for my sins.”

Most all who are followers of Jesus probably would share a circumstance or day of our salvation, when we received Jesus. But consider the real truth of th matter…? This religious leader waiting to board a train gave answer that is correct for us all, who claim Jesus.

Father, thank you for this day, two thousand plus years ago when Jesus became my Creator / Redeemer. Who became atonement on the cross, once for all, put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit. AMEN
