1 The LORD abhors dishonest scales,
but accurate weights are his delight.

The Lord dishonest scales abhors,
But honest weights get his delight and high scores.

2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.

3 The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

4 Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath,
but righteousness delivers from death.

In the judgment day, worthless will be all wealth,
But righteousness delivers from death to eternal health.

5 The righteousness ofthe blameless makesa straight way for them,
but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness.

The way is made straight for the righteous by their blamelessness,
But the wicked are brought down by their wickedness.

6 The righteousness of the upright delivers them,
but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.

The righteousness of the upright delivers them from judgment fires,
But the unfaithful are always trapped by their own evil desires.

7 When a wicked man dies, his hope perishes;
all he expected from his power comes to nothing.

When a wicked man dies, his hopes perish in hours,
And all comes to nothing that he expected from his powers.

8 The righteous man is rescued from trouble,
and it comes on the wicked instead.

The righteous man is rescued from the troubles he'd dread,
But all of these troubles come on the wicked man instead.

9 With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor,
but through knowledge the righteous escape.

With his mouth the godless his neighbor destroys,
But the righteous escape through the knowledge he employs.

10 When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices;
when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy.

The city rejoices when the righteous prosper,
But they shout for greater joy when the wicked perish like a pauper.

11 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,
but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

The city is exalted through the blessing of the upright,
But the mouth of the wicked destroy everything that is right.

12 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor,
but a man of understanding holds his tongue.

A stupid man will his neighbor deride,
But a wise man keeps his angry words inside.

13 A gossip betrays a confidence,
but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.

A gossip will every confidence betray,
But a trustworthy man will keep a secret to his dying day.

14 For lack of guidance a nation falls,
but many advisers make victory sure.

For lack of guidance a nation will not endure,
But with many advisers, the victory is sure.

15 He who puts up security for another will surely suffer,
but whoever refuses to strike hands in pledge is safe.

He who puts up security for another will certainly suffering pay,
But whoever refuses to strike hands in pledge is safe all the way.

16 A kindhearted woman gains respect,
but ruthless men gain only wealth.

A kindhearted woman is one who great respect gains
But ruthless men gain only wealth for all of their pains.

17 A kind man benefits himself,
but a cruel man brings trouble on himself.

A kind man by his kindness himself benefits,
But the cruel man brings only trouble testing his wits.

18 The wicked man earns deceptive wages,
but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

The wicked man earns deceptive wages,
But the sower of righteousness reaps rewards in many stages.

19 The truly righteous man attains life,
but he who pursues evil goes to his death.

The truly righteous man attains a glorious life,
But he who pursues evil goes to death in much strife.

20 The LORD detests men of perverse heart
but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.

Men of perverse heart the Lord greatly detests,
But those whose ways are blameless he delights in the best.

21 Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished,
but those who are righteous will go free.

Be sure of this: the wicked will not escape penalty,
But those who are righteous will from judgment go free.

22 Like a gold ring in a pig's snout
is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.

Like a gold ring in a pig's snout,
Is a beautiful woman who has not figured it out,
That nobody likes a cop out who will only pout,
And never be sweet, but only sour as kraut,
And whose tongue will nothing but gossip spout.


23 The desire of the righteous ends only in good,
but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.

The desire of the righteous ends in a good path,
But the hope of the wicked ends in wrath.

24 One man gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

The one who gives freely, even more he then gains,
But the one who withholds unduly, suffers poverty pains.

25 A generous man will prosper;
he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

A generous man will certainly have a prosperous spell,
For when you refresh others, they will refresh you as well.

26 People curse the man who hoards grain,
but blessing crowns him who is willing to sell.

People curse the man who his grain will hoard,
But bless and crown him who sells for what men can afford.

27 He who seeks good finds goodwill,
but evil comes to him who searches for it.

What you seek for is what you will get,
This is an old principle of life that has never changed yet.
If you seek for what is good, you will good will find,
And if you seek what is evil, you will with evil be combined.

28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall,
but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

Whoever trusts in his riches will most certainly fall,
But the righteous will thrive like a green leaf that even winter can't stall.

29 He who brings trouble on his family will inherit only wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise.

The child who brings trouble on his family ought not be surprised
When the family will is read, and all he gets is wind in his eyes,
And as a fool ends up as a servant to one who is wise.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and he who wins souls is wise.

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life prize,
And he who wins souls is truly wise,
And has won the prize of the greatest size.



31 If the righteous receive their due on earth,
how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

If the righteous receive on earth their due,
How much more for the ungodly and sinner is this true?
