THE TREE IN A POT

There is a huge difference between a flower and a tree. A flower can conveniently fulfill its purpose and destiny while planted and remaining in a pot, but a tree can never truly be a tree or fulfill its destiny and purpose while planted in a pot. When a tree finds itself in a pot, there’s no way it can live its full potentials, it’s totally impossible for it to realize or become all that it has been created to be. There are certain places you can never find or fulfill your God-given purpose and destiny as an individual; there are some places you find yourself and your destiny is completely caged.

Like the destiny of a tree that finds itself in a pot is bound to be truncated, so also is the destiny of any person that finds himself or herself in a wrong location. Your location at each and every point and stages of your life has a lot to do with fulfillment of your destiny as a person. Please listen to me, there’s no argument about the fact that you can exist anywhere, but truth is, you can’t thrive or flourish just anywhere; there’s an appointed place and location that has been specifically assigned and designed by the Almighty God to support your growth, assist your development and help your flourishing in life.

No matter how hard you try in a wrong place, your best will never be good enough! Truth is, not every place can be good for you as a person. So many people have struggled for several years, not because of lack of knowledge, ideas, qualifications, skills, resources and anointing, but because they’re planted in the wrong place. How far can a tree planted in a pot go? How prosperous can a tree planted in a pot be? If a place is not designed to support fulfillment of your destiny, it’s totally unwise for you to remain there. In fact, it’s possible that someone else prospers and flourishes in a particular place, but this is not a guaranty that you too will prosper in the same location. Until you find yourself in your own place, you can’t truly live!

Proverbs 27:8 says “As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place”. Countless are the miseries and woes of a bird that wanders from its nest, so also are the miseries and woes of a man that’s not planted in his own place. There’s a place that’s known as “your own place”, and you need to locate that place as a matter of necessity. Some people are under the illusion that they can prosper in any place or location of their choice, nothing can be farther from the truth. Even nature itself teaches us great lessons, yet in the simplest ways: for instance, the atmospheric and soil conditions of different geographies and locations on the surface of the earth do not all support the growth of the same kind of plants and vegetation. Whereas some plants will thrive and flourish in temperate region, the same plants will struggle and die if planted in the tropical region.

You don’t need the permission of anyone to detach yourself from a location that has been designed to trap and kill your destiny. It’s not impossible that some trees actually have to begin their journey in a pot, otherwise known as nursery, but this cannot be forever. As soon as the pot fulfills its purpose of nurturing the young plant to the stage that it’s fit and ready to be released into the open fields to fulfill its full potentials and purpose, the detachment has to happen for the mutual benefits of both the pot and the plant.

We all need to be sensitive in the matter of finding and being planted in the right location. Knowing where God wants you to be planted and function at each and every stage and phase of your life is a strict responsibility you can’t afford to delegate to someone else. Whether in career, business, marriage, ministry etc., there’s a place God has specifically designed and assigned to support fulfillment of your destiny and God-given purpose in life, and it’s important you discover and abide therein.

Sometimes, God uses situations and circumstances to push us out towards the place He wants us to be, unfortunately, many people are usually not sensitive enough to discern His gentle nudge. You must be sensitive to not misread what God’s doing; you must know when it’s time to stop living in the shadow of others, in order to create your own shadow under which someone else can dwell. Life is meant to be an adventure, and only those who are ready to dare will enjoy the thrill. Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”. When you trust the LORD with the faith of a baby, you make it easy for Him to lead you to the place He has prepared for you.  

Like the tree that’s planted in a pot, most people know that they’re not meant for the place they have settled for, but they seem to lack the courage to break and step out of their comfort zones. But when you consider it critically, a pot is far from being a comfort zone for the tree, it’s actually a death zone! Whatever places limitations around your life and fulfillment of your God-given dream and vision can never be in your interest. Until you take the bold step of breaking out of your enclave to be where God wants you to be and do what He’s leading you to do, you’re just like that tree that is planted in a pot.

I feel the LORD is speaking specifically to someone out there. It’s not too late to let go and let God.
