DID JESUS WRITE THE BOOK OF HEBREWS?

I  can only speculate that Jesus is the author of the only Book in the New Testament that has no declared author, and I do so based on findings within Hebrews.

There are 27 Books of the New Testament.  26 of those have known authors.  Paul wrote 13 of them, so he wrote half of the authored 26 Books of the New Testament or “New Covenant” between God and man.

Hebrews 1:3 – “(Jesus) Who being the brightness of God’s glory, and the express image (definition – “Exact or precise image) of His person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when He had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:”

How would any New Testament writer know that? – We could guess that Jesus told Paul or some other writer to say that, but there appears to be the intimate knowledge that Jesus is the exact or precise image of God – the one nobody has ever seen….not even Moses.

Hebrews 1:5 -  For unto which of the angels did God say at any time, ‘Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?”

Again, how would anyone but Jesus know what God said on a particular day before Jesus was born in Bethlehem?

In 2 Samuel 7, God told Nathan the prophet to tell King David this: - “ And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. (“David…from your lineage, I will establish a new king and kingdom that will last for all of eternity”) -  He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. - I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: - But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.  And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.”

A note here about, “if He (Jesus) shall commit iniquity is said because God would allow Satan to tempt Jesus in the wilderness as you might recall). –Matthew 4:1 – “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”

Hebrews 1:8-9 – “But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.  Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God (therefore, Jesus who is God) , even thy God, (God the Father) hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.”

Here, the author of Hebrews expresses exact words that God called Him God and said that even I…God Himself, has anointed you (God the Son) with the oil of gladness above anyone else. How would anyone but Jesus know this?

The apostles asked Jesus many times “Who are you really”.  Jesus answered, “If you have seen me, you have seen God.” 

Luke 9:18-20 clearly tells us that none of the apostles knew who Jesus was…other than God’s sent one…a Messiah. “ Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, “Who do the crowds say I am?” - they replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, that one of the prophets of long ago has come back to life.” - “But what about you, Peter?” He asked. “Who do you say I am?” -Peter answered, “God’s Messiah.” –

So None of the writers of the New Testament could say what the writer of Hebrews said about God calling Him God….which is just one more reason that I believe Jesus is the author of Hebrews…but I can never prove it! – I’m okay with never being able to prove it, but now – when I read Hebrews, I read it as though Jesus is speaking it.

In Chapter 2 of Hebrews, the writer says, “Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.  And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.”

This writer is saying “I…in the first person…..I will declare your name God unto my brethren.”  The writer says, “I and the children which God has given me”.

To me, the writer is writing what He is speaking….so either Jesus is the writer – or the writer is claiming to be Jesus!

I actually don’t really have to go further into the Book of Hebrews to believe that the author and writer is Jesus, but it will make reading Hebrews a lot more clear to me sensing that Jesus Himself wrote it.

P.S.  I did read the entire Book of Hebrews - as though Jesus wrote it, and it really became clearer to me that He must heve penned it.  Read it yourself and see how much sense it makes with Jesus as the author.
