There is a cost for turning your life over to others to take care of your every need. Today the government is increasingly offering to take care of you, most recently in having your kids go to free schools and day cares.

As Biblical counseling movement founder Jay E Adams wrote in a brochure, we must make our own decisions. Citing an insane asylum, Dr. Adams points out that all your decisions are made for you in the asylum. These decisions, he points out, are not usually made in your best interests. These institutions tend to put the inmates on "medications" that harm them and turn them into zombies. The only thing this may prepare you for is a spot on the Sci-Fi series The Walking Dead.

The consequences of sucumbing to an offer for others to provide personal peace and prosperity is illustrated in the Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man. In the episode, an alien from outer space comes to earth to offer the world a eutopia. With advanced science, the Kanamits will grow food so everyone can eat, cure diseases and create a paradise on earth without working. There is also no need for police and other services. Just turn your lives over to the aliens and leave it to them to take care of you.

At one point, government officials find a book the Kanamit dropped entitled To Serve Man.

Decoders get busy trying to decode the book. Meanwhile, the Kanamits offer earthlings a free vacation to their planet. The head decoder eventually gives up, and decides to take the Kanamits up on their offer. As he goes to board the space ship for his vacation, his assistant, who evidently decoded the book, came running towards him, frantically shouting "To Serve Man is a cook book!"

Likewise, the freebees offered by the government to take care of you and your children are not in your best interests. The government wants to take over the responsibility to raise your kids in the way they think they should go, which is not in the admonition of the Lord! They will preempt duties God gave to parents.
