Since the 1st century, the church has been under attack by false doctrine, within its own walls. Today the world is trying to bring the church under its control through intimidation and increasing attempts for a hostile takeover, like Engulf & Devour in Mel Brooks' Silent Movie. Some churches have been compromising its principles to accomodate worldly sinful beliefs.

Some schools, backed by the government, have been trying to bring up children in the way they think they should go. They have been indoctrinating kids with sinful doctrine. Parents are commanded in scripture to teach them the right ways. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6

Children are not only being taught that homosexuality, promiscuity and transgenderism is acceptable, but are encouraged to behave it this ungodly manner.

Immorality destroys civilization. In the early 20th century, pornography was prevalent in Germany. Ditto for the Roman Empire before its fall. "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like the foolish man who built his house on the sand. And when the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." -Matthew 7:24-29 These decadent societies were not built on solid ground!

Recently, conservative Christians refused to compromise their Biblical principles. The United Methodist church banned local churches from preaching against homosexuality. Members fought and cancelled the ban. In an attempt at reconciliation, the liberal faction offered a compromise to let individual churches preach the Biblical view that God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve but churches are free to tolerate the unbiblical view that the former is correct. The church stood on Biblical principle and said no to this.

In the 1920s, the Biblical Christians in the Presbyterian church were the ones who had to break off from the demomination. J. Gresham Machen served as a professor at Princeton Theological Seminary for 23 years, which was originally a Biblically sound institution. Liberalism had crept into Princeton. Dr. Machen wrote a book to say that the seminary was not just another form of Christianity; it was not even Christian. My mother used to call liberal churches "social clubs." Unwilling to compromise God's principles, Dr. Machen crossed the river to start Westminister Theological Seminary. He stood on the principle of the unadulterated word of God. In his exodus from the apostate seminary he brought with him bright young Biblical scholars who stood on Biblical principle.

Today a line has been drawn in the sand. As the leader of a Bible study I attended said in the context of teaching from the book of Esther, we can no longer be neutral. We have to choose whose side we are on. We cannot be luke warm to God. "So because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." -Revelation 3:16

Because God's people didn't kowtow to the ways of King Zerxes, Haman asked the party king to put out a hit on the Jews. "There is a certain race of people scattered through all the provinces of your empire who keep themselves seperate from everyone else. Their laws are different from those of any other people, and they refuse to obey the laws of the king. So it is not in the best interest to let them live." -Esther 3:9

Esther went out on faith and convinced the king to stop the hit. Today Christians need to have the same courage as did Esther and her cousin Mordecai.
