"Then Haman approached King Xerxes and said, 'There is a certain race of people scattered through all the provinces of your empire who keep themselves separate from everyone else. Their laws are different from those of any other people, and they refuse to obey the laws of the king. So it is not in the king's interest to let them live. If it please the king, issue a decree that they be destroyed, and I will give 10,000 sacks of silver to the government administrators to be deposited in the royal treasury.'" - Esther 3: 8,9.

In the book of Esther, God's people were living under the party king Xerxes and his despotic right hand man Haman. Everyone was supposed to kowtow to Haman. Esther's cousin Mordecai refused to bow down to Haman. Enraged, Haman told Xerxes to have all the Jews killed, just because he didn't get the respect he thought he deserved. The story has a happy ending, as Ester went out in faith and persuaded the king to lift the hit on God's people.

Today there is pressure to do wrong and not question what the powerful elite in society decree. As the leader of the Bible study I attend on Wednesdays said, there is a double standard for the Corona Virus. It's OK to go to casinos but not to church. A Facebook post of Morgan Freeman echos this: "Perhaps we should smuggle all the homeless people into Mexico and have them caravan back in to receive better treatment." But some people are afraid to voice their opinion on any establishment edict, which is driven by the self proclaimed kings of society.

Initially, Bucks County would not circulate my book on homelessness in the public library system. In the book I criticized the way the homeless were treated in the library and surrounding areas. But someone new in my local library got it through, and my book is now in circulation in the Bucks County Free Library System.

As Christians, we need to speak out and like Esther, do the right thing.

"And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." -Romans 12: 2

The actions of some people today concerning the Corona Virus are not based on science; they are not using sober judgment. In Bucks County, PA, where I live, only one church is offering dine in meals for the homeless. But an alleged homeless advocate organization, which advertizes the homeless meals, did not advertise the dine in meal in time the first time this church was supposed to have it after Corona first hit. A pastor at the church told us at the dine in Thanksgiving meal that the dine in meals would be back on schedule in January. When the church just hosted a grab in go meal in January, the pastor told me that the church couldn't host the sit down meal because that organization didn't give people enough notice.

Now, two days before the scheduled March dine in meal, the meal is still not posted on the advocates' site.

It seems the so-called advocates are constructively trying to stop a church from not falling in lock step with the main stream conventional wisdom and doing what they believe is right.

The church needs to bring salt and light to the world. The dine in homeless meals is one way to do this.

This is nothing new. In the 1920s the Presbyterian churches by and large were influenced by wordly modernism and liberalism. Instead of positively influencing society, the church allowed darkness to befall society. Regular men lost their jobs because of government policies. They hopped trains to find work, and railroad dicks brutalized these hobos when they caught them trying to catch a train. The church can and should work to prevent homelessness and help the homeless as well as the rest of society!
