It was reported by the Freedom Journalist that President Biden said, “There’s nothing we can do to change the trajectory of the pandemic in the next several months.” Biden’s remark is descriptive of the inability to deal with this problem. However, there is a way that has not been tried yet. More on that later.

     CNN’s Chris Cuomo stated recently, “If you believe in one another and if you do the right things for yourself and your community things will get better in this country. You don’t need help from above” (emphasis mine).

     President Xi Jinping, of the People’s Republic of China, in an address to the World Economic Forum, remarked that “there is no doubt that humanity will prevail over the virus and emerge even stronger.”

     What do you find missing in each of those quotations? They make no mention of asking for God’s help.

     There is a reason why God allowed this so-called pandemic. It fits the description of a pestilence. All through the Holy Bible whenever this term is mentioned it is associated with judgment or a warning to turn back to God. To not do so brings consequences.

     Proverbs 1:25-29 says, “You neglected all my counsel, and did not want my reproof. I will even laugh at your calamity. I will mock when your dread comes. When your dread comes like a storm...when distress and anguish come on you. Then they will call on me but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me, because they hated knowledge , and did not choose the fear of the Lord.” 

     This is contrasted with Proverbs 3:5-8. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.” 

     I am not going so far as to say that if the world turned back to God the virus would suddenly disappear. I do know one thing for sure, though. It won’t help matters by ignoring God, and choosing to solve it with an attitude of arrogance apart from Him.

     The world needs to recognize its sinful condition, seek forgiveness, and call upon the grace of God. Until that happens it is my opinion (and I hope I am wrong) that the world will continue to struggle with this virus. However, God could change the “trajectory.”
