When you put the "Christ" in Christmas, and take it seriously, you have joy in the promise God gave to send his son to save us from the debt of sin and restore us to Him. Real peace is when we are not at war with God, as a pastor said a few years back.

The promise of salvation goes back to the book of Genesis, when, after Adam and Eve sinned, disobeyed God, He promised his Grace to bring them back. Throughout the old testiment, God reminds us of the promise. The blood animal sacrifices in Levitticus, for example, foreshadows the coming of Christ.
Fast forward to the birth of Jesus, the immaculate conception miracle where Christ came in human form to be with us and conduct his ministry, topped off with his resurrection after he overcame sin and the grave in order to give us new life. God left us with the Holy Spirit, which lives in those who believe and trust in Him.

This is what Christmas is really about!

When you look out into a starry night, think about the light and hope Jesus brought to the world and the evergreen, a icon of God's everlasting love for us, through all seasons. As the lyrics from a Christian song from a CD one of the singers with freelygivengospel.com gave me go:

"Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full into his wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace"

Christmas is the celebration of Jesus' birth. Throughout the year, we need to worship and praise him, read our Bibles, attend a sound Biblical church, pray, and fellowship with the saints. Jesus came into the world and met us as sinners and turned us into saints. New lives for old.

"and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." -Ephesians 4:24
