The World Needs A Savior

The events of the last few months have revealed two things about humanity which should be very obvious. COVID-19 has shown the world how vulnerable it is to a microscopic germ and its inability to control the spread. It should also be quite apparent that people are capable of unimaginable evil. Recent news stories have told of evil acts too gruesome to mention, where humans have been treated like nothing more than a slab of meat!

     However, the problems go beyond the pandemic, destructive rioting, and evil acts. Many of the same problems and social issues have gone on for centuries, and continue to be unresolved. Even though there is an abundance of education, technology, and social programs and “reforms,” many problems still remain. The world is unable to fix its problems!

      In fact, some problems have become worse. Mass shootings have become more common than ever.  Lawlessness has gone to a new level. Uprisings between people groups have dramatically increased. Nations have gone from simply not getting along to the threat and capability of nuclear war.

     Why do protestors choose to destroy innocent lives and property? Why does BLM choose to kill their own people, while at the same time ignore the aborted black babies? Why do some still insist that guns are the problem, and not the person pulling the trigger? Why does George Soros choose to spend billions of dollars on destroying democracy? If the current pandemic was planned as some evidence suggests, how can anyone be so evil?

     With all these problems there is practically no discussion about human nature. I don’t think society wants to admit that people can be so bad. Yet, to deny this or try to justify it, not only makes it worse, but also ignores the real cause. The Bible says in Jeremiah 17:9 that the “heart is deceitful and desperately sick; who can understand it?” 

     Human nature was created with a free will. We are witnessing problems manifested as a reflection of free will. People can choose to love or hate. They can choose to be racially prejudiced or to realize that there is one human race in many different colors. People can choose to have no regard for life, or to view each life, born and unborn, as special and unique creations.

     On top of all the world’s problems, there is an arrogance toward God coupled with self-exaltation. Humanity has trusted in its own achievements and treasures (Jeremiah 48). This is a very dangerous attitude that is begging for God’s judgment.

     There is also a convergence of deception, depraved thinking, and a deluding influence. Depraved thinking is prophesied in Romans 1:28. A deluding influence is referred to in II Thess. 2:11.

     The main theme of Romans 1 is that God will give over humanity to the consequences of its own attitudes and actions, depraved thinking being one. The world as a whole is at that point now.

     Spiritual depravity means morally bad, evil, or corrupt. The legal definition is “an inherent deficiency of moral sense and integrity. it consists of  ...intent which is devoid of regard for human dignity and which is indifferent to human life. It is a state of mind outrageously, horrible or inhuman.” It is contrary to justice, honesty, or morality, and a deviation from ordinary standards and so shocking to the moral sense of society.

     A deluding influence is a false supposition that other people or external agents are covertly exerting power over oneself. This clearly implies that society has been led to believe that people are not responsible for their actions.

     These definitions sound exactly like what is being witnessed today, do they not?

     Satan’s goal is to keep people from recognizing the real truth of human nature, without which people will never call upon the grace of God resulting in a transformation of character. Without a transformation of character which will be expressd in the free will in right attitudes and actions, the world’s problems will continue.

     To compound the problem even further, the lockdown has revealed how dependent people have become on going places, doing things, and entertainment. The busyness of life and entertainment for some, has probably become a source of “happiness” and a distraction from problems. Now that these have been taken away there is no substance to living, nor an anchor for the soul. Therefore, there has been a huge uptick in depression and suicide.

     There is a spiritual void that exists within the souls of each individual that can only be filled by God. There needs to be a recognition of God as the Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. Recognize Jesus as God’s Son in human flesh, who died for our sins and rose from the dead. Until humanity acknowledges this and calls upon God’s grace, the world’s problems will remain unresolved. A spiritual relationship and commitment to God and Jesus Christ is the only answer for the world.

     “There is no other God besides Me, a righteous God and a Savior; There is none except Me. Turn to Me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is no other”(Isaiah 45:21-22).
