Isaiah 59 is Relevant For Todays Rioting and Destruction

With all the rioting and destruction there has been in the past weeks, does the Bible have anything to say about it? You bet it does. The Book of Isaiah in the Old Testament, written several thousand years ago, is a book of prophecy. There is one particular passage in this book that, though it is not necessarily prophetic of the events of the last several weeks, does have a striking description and parallel to what we have been seeing. 

     Beginning with verse 7 it reads: “Their feet run to evil, and they hasten to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity. Devastation and destruction are in their highways. They do not know the way of peace, and there is no justice in their tracks.“ Going down to verses 14-15, it says, “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away. For truth has stumbled in the streets, and uprightness cannot enter. Yes, truth is lacking...”

     This is just one of many examples of how relevant the Bible is for the times in which we are living.
